Planning a perfect Colorado summer vacation

Colorado has it all, for the summer enthusiast to the winter skier. The summer offers everything from Hiking in the high country of Colorado in locations such as beautiful Breckenridge, Frisco , Keystone or Copper mountain.

The locals refer to our home as Summit County. Vail is home to a true mountain village that is pedestrian friendly with great restaurants and shops. Steamboat is a true western town , Grand county has great mountain towns that include Winter park and the quaint town of Grand lake with beautiful lakes where you can rent a boat. Aspen is simply that Aspen a town not to miss. Back to hiking, Trails can range from simple hikes for the whole family to climbing our 14,000 foot peaks and anywhere in between. Hiking should always be done in the morning, since if storms do roll in they usually come in the afternoon. If you plan on hiking to a summit, start your hike early no later than 7:00 or earlier dependent on the elevation of your climb. Clothing should include good hiking shoes already broken in, wear layers that wick away moisture and remember temperature drops as you gain in elevation. Be prepared to bring snacks for energy, protein and carbs work.

Summer activities also include great fishing whether you prefer chartering a boat or guide or want to enjoy the serenity of fly fishing. If you haven’t tried the sport of fly fishing there are many fly fishing outfitters that provide lessons and have great guides. Want to experience the adrenalin of white water rafting, Colorado has it all from class 1 rapids for the family with small children to class 5 rapids for the experienced. Most popular are class 3. The summer is a photographer’s dream come true, take a 4x4 tour or rent a jeep or have a guide show you the hidden spots only locals know. See beautiful wild flowers to mountain goats to even getting up and close to a moose. Still want more fun take a zip line over the most scenic beauty you can imagine.
